Story Behind This Piece
Frantz explains, "This ladder was passed down to me from my great-great-grandfather Ishi. He was an indigenous warrior who lived near lakes and plains centuries ago. Ishi had some unusual beliefs. He instructed his slaves to climb up and down this ladder 500 times a day for a month. He believed that this rigorous exercise would make them tough and resilient. After one month, he set them free, convinced the ladder had strengthened them.
